The Electronic Music Production with Ableton Live course aims to offer students a complete guide on the basics of electronic music production with Live. Ableton Live is all about making music; for composition, songwriting, recording, production, remixing and live performance.

Live's nonlinear, intuitive flow, alongside powerful real-time editing and flexible performance options, make it a unique studio tool and a favorite with live performers. If you'd rather be "making music" than just "using music software," Ableton Live is for you. Live 9, the latest version, includes a wealth of new techniques and improvements with a new groove engine, revamped warping, live looping, new effects, crossfades in the Arrangement View and a reworked MIDI editor.


The Music Production with Ableton Live Certificate Course will introduce students in the art of music production. The module will present general music recording and producing knowledge focused on the Live environment. The students will develop skill in recording, producing and mixing in Ableton Live.

This Certificate course will walk students through Digital Audio Theory (sample rates, bits), Mics, preamps, audio interfaces the hardware tools we need, Setting up a recording session in Arrangement view, Adding virtual instruments and loops, Audio Wrapping, Tempo Master/Slave, Quantization, Working with grooves. Also, it will introduce students to Operator, Sampler, Tension, Types of synthesis (basic knowledge), Working with automation in Arrangement View, EQs, Dynamics, Delays, Producing music using Session View, Clips and scenes, Automation inside clips, Recording a Session View performance, Exporting mixdown.

Entry Requirements

There are no academic requirements to participate in this course. The only entry requirement is for the participant to be at least 18 years of age upon commencement of the course.
